BEACH
Ban Chuen is a laid-back beach in the Klong Yai region, known for its fine sand and tranquil vibe. If you’re looking to escape the crowds and experience a less touristy side of Thailand, this is the place to be. Along the shoreline, you’ll find several mid-range and basic hotels, perfect for a quiet getaway. The water may not be crystal-clear, but it’s great for swimming all day long.
Ban Chuen is a beautiful place to relax and sunbathe. Choose this beach if you want to be part of local customs, away from Western demands. Take a day trip to the village of Mai Rut to enjoy local atmosphere.
WHERE TO STAY
Alicia Beach Resort and De Veranio Resort are more upper-range resorts. As an additional perk Alicia Beach Resort provides free bicycles for their guests and is one of the only hotels that rents scooters. However, in November 2025 Alicia was closed, hopefully this lovely place will reopen soon,
We are very charmed by the good vibe of the mid-range hotel The Hi Ocean. We found the mid-range Orada Resort to be a good stay, the rooms are all originally designed, surrounded by a green garden, and located on a small private beach.
While most places here have their own restaurants, you can also drive about 5 kilometers to Mai Rut for small, simple local eateries. If you’re looking for more variety, head to Klong Yai, it’s an 18-kilometer drive and offers several restaurant options.
