South Beach, Ko Adang

    BEACH
There are 2 beaches with stays on Ko Adang, located on the south and southeast coasts. We prefer South Beach. This beach is wide with brightly colored coarse-grained sand. Palms and other trees outline the beach, providing plenty of shade to escape the sun if you need a break from the heat. The beach is well-maintained and provides a serene and idyllic setting for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the island. This beach truly feels like paradise!

With calm transparent turquoise water, the bay is ideal for swimming at both high and low tide, also making it one of the best beaches to go snorkeling. It is a quiet beach with a nice view of Ko Lipe. During the day the beach is visited by daytrippers from Ko Lipe.

    WHERE TO STAY
There is only one stay on South Beach, the Adang Island Resort, which is a great place with a pool and nice bungalows. You are able to take a free boat connection to Ko Lipe 3 times a day. Otherwise it is also possible to arrange a private longtail boat.

The resort has a restaurant, however, if you prefer to go out for dinner somewhere else, take a trip to Ko Lipe where you will find plenty of good food spots.

    ISLAND
Ko Adang is part of the Ko Tarutao Marine National Park in the South Andaman region. It is a beautiful island with several beaches, forested hills, waterfalls and a beautiful coral reef. This is the perfect place to stay for nature lovers or people who like snorkeling and tranquility.

    WHAT TO DO
You can explore the island’s natural attractions, such as jungle trekking, birdwatching, and visiting waterfalls. On Ko Adang, there are many hiking trails to discover. It is a fairly large island with hardly any tourism. An attraction of Ko Adang is the Chao Dao Viewpoint with a magnificent view over the Tarutao Marine Park.

Snorkeling is possible everywhere around the island, with a relatively high amount of beautiful snorkeling spots. The coral is in an average condition and you always see many, extraordinary fish species. You can easily arrange diving trips from Ko Lipe.

Because Ko Adang is part of the national park you sometimes have to pay an entrance fee of 200 baht per person. The national park offers camping facilities and you can set up your tent at the designated camping area. Camping on the island is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the natural surroundings. There are no ATMs on the island, so make sure to bring cash. It is good to know that there are ATMs at Ko Lipe.

    TRANSPORT
From Bangkok you can take a flight to Trang or Hat Yai. From both cities it is an approximate 1.5 hour drive by minibus or taxi to Pakbara. At Pakbara, several speedboats can take you to Ko Lipe. From Ko Lipe you have to take a longtail boat to get to Ko Adang, which costs about 100 baht per person.

There are boat connections from Ko Lanta to Ko Lipe, stopping at several other islands on the way. You can not rent scooters.
