BEACH
Near Klong Yai Town, the beach between the Barn Talaepu Resort and Meet the Sea is the only nice beach we came across. Near Barn Talaepu Resort the beach is wide with fine sand and the water is calm and good for swimming, although it is not as clear as many other beaches. This is a good place to stroll and relax.
Definitely visit this beach if you want to be part of the local customs away from Western demands. As an alternative to swimming in the sea, the resorts offer clear pools.
WHERE TO STAY
We found three mid-range accommodations we can truly recommend. Two of them, Meet the Sea and By the Sea, sit right next to each other, offering cozy bungalows and rooms just steps from the sand. If you’re dreaming of a refreshing dip after a day in the sun, Meet the Sea is your best bet with its inviting pool. Prefer charm and a more intimate vibe? Then By the Sea will steal your heart with its laid-back atmosphere and beachfront views.
Further south, you’ll find Barn Talaepu Resort, with stylish wooden bungalows. Most bungalows offer stunning beach views and terraces overlooking a serene creek that winds its way to the sea, a picture-perfect setting for a peaceful escape. The best rooms? Those right by the beach, along the creek, and farthest from the road for maximum tranquility. Adding to the charm, the resort is run by a friendly Cambodian-Thai couple who make you feel right at home.
You can eat at the hotels or at Klong Yai’s night market or restaurants, about 5-7 kilometers away.
