PLACE
Phuket is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and a wide range of activities and attraction. The beaches are beautiful but usually full of people. However, near the airport are 2 relatively non-touristic beaches. These beaches wouldn’t be our first choice for travel, but if you happen to find yourself spending some extra time in Phuket, possibly waiting for an outbound flight, these beaches are definitely a good option.

WHAT TO DO
Phuket is a good base for exploring nearby islands, including Phi Phi Islands, Similan Islands, and James Bond Island, among others. You can take boat tours to experience the stunning landscapes and underwater life.

Explore the old town of Phuket, where you can find well-preserved Sino-Portuguese architecture. Visit Wat Chalong, the Big Buddha of Phuket, and other temples to learn about Thai culture and history.

Phuket offers diverse shopping opportunities, from bustling markets like Patong Night Market to upscale malls like Jungceylon Shopping Center. You can do various adventure activities, such as zip-lining, ATV tours, bungee jumping, and water sports like parasailing and jet-skiing. Phuket has several golf courses set in stunning landscapes, offering great opportunities for golf enthusiasts.

TRANSPORT
Phuket is easily reached by plane from Bangkok, Chang Mai and Udon Thani. The beaches mentioned are close to the airport. Mai Khao is north of Phuket Airport, and a 15-kilometer taxi ride from the airport to the beach costing 500 baht. Nai Yang is south of the airport, and a taxi ride there costs 200 baht.

Phuket is easily accessible by bus. Buses and minibuses come from various directions. Ask the driver to drop you off near the beach. Please note that taxis in Phuket are relatively expensive, and renting a scooter is cheap and easy.
