Sichon, Lower Gulf

Hin Ngaam

Sichon South

PLACE
Sichon is a peaceful destination where travelers can see Thailand as it has existed for centuries. The cozy fishing villages, the beautiful fields and the impressive nature make Sichon a good destination for off-the-beaten-path tourists.

In the next few years there will probably be more development in Sichon, as an extension of the Khanom’s beaches. For now however, you will be one of the few western tourists visiting this area.

WHAT TO DO
Visitors can explore the local market, enjoy the fields with lots of coconut and banana trees and swim in the Gulf of Thailand. With a bit of luck, you will see the pink dolphins. A nice excursion is the Mu Ko Thale Tai National Park. It is home to a number of interesting caves, waterfalls, and mangrove forests and the Thale Tai Archipelago, an archipelago of eight islands known for their colorful coral reefs. Nature lovers can visit the Khao Luang Mountains, known for its waterfalls and its wide variety of flora and fauna. This is where the second highest mountain in Thailand is located, whose peak is more than 1,700 meters.

TRANSPORT
The beaches of Sichon are about 50 kilometers from the airport of Nakhon Si Thammarat, 40 kilometers from Khanom and 2-6 kilometers south of Sichon Town. There are good minibus connections between Sichon and Surat Thani, and between Sichon and Nakhon Si Thammarat. When we visit this region, we usually rent a car at the airport of Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Scooter rentals can be found in town and at some of the stays on the beach.
